Christmas in Melbourne
Hi there! Once again I’ve been busy with stuffs since the last post. My cousin came from Sydney to learn about programming (which I have to teach her), and my parents came for my graduation. Yeah, I graduated few days ago from Swinburne University in Melbourne. Finally I get a hold of that bachelor degree. We’re planning to go to Sydney in few days from now, so I just drop by to greet you guys.
This Christmas is the first Christmas in a couple of years that I celebrated abroad. I do remember celebrating Christmas in Singapore years back then when I was 8-years old or something. In my home country, Christmas is usually the time for going out with families in shopping centres or department stores. Apparently that is not the case in developed countries, at least in Melbourne.
Aside from the cool summer that I experience in Melbourne, Christmas in Melbourne also offer something different. Not only today’s weather is quite colder than your usual cool day in Melbourne, it was also windy and chilly. I literally had to use jackets or jumpers when I went out with my family.
The other difference, there was literally no crowd whatsoever this afternoon. Very different from what I had expected or experienced in Indonesia. There was also very small traffic. I guess many people decide that it IS the time for family.
Speaking about family, I’m spending this Christmas with my family. I am lucky enough that they were able to come here for my graduation and spend Christmas together. For those who weren’t able to meet your families during this Christmas season, don’t be disappointed and keep your spirit high!
Well, I wish you a very merry Christmas this year, and hopefully you’re able to enjoy it as much as I do. Just a simple question, what did you do this Christmas? See you next post..!
jovee~
